Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Yedula, General Secretary, Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), says that it was launched with the aim of providing world-class services to many people suffering from foot problems and I always see Medicover coming with innovative ideas to cater to people.
On this occasion Dr. Srikanth Raju, Endovascular Surgeon & Foot Care Specialist said that many diabetic foot problems place a financial burden and lifestyle issues on many people. The prevalence of diabetes is spreading worldwide and more than 500 million people will experience these problems in the next 10 to 15 years. Diabetes is a common cause for major foot pathology, leading to ischemia, infection and neuropathy leading to foot ulcers. The major risk factors for developing diabetic foot ulcers are peripheral artery disease (PAD) and diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which can occur alone or simultaneously. Other important risk factors include soft tissue infection, biomechanical abnormalities, peripheral edema, nephropathy, plantar fasciitis, age, prolonged diabetic course and poor glucose control. Dr. Krishna Reddy Sr. Consultant , Endocrinologist said “ In our clinical practice, we have seen that 50% of patients with diabetes have foot ulcers and 50% of them require vascular intervention such as open or endovascular procedures to improve vascularity and heal the wound quickly,Diabetic foot ulcers occur annually in patients with diabetes”.
Diabetes affects almost all systems of the body, especially the risk of developing complications such as frequent foot ulcers and surgical / endovascular intervention and hospitalization infections. It can have a significant financial impact on the family with an average of three times the costs. As a vascular and foot care specialist our primary goal is to prevent the development of ulcers and to heal existing ulcers using advanced treatments, off-loading / specialized footwear, open / endovascular intervention to improve vascularity and proper foot care to prevent its recurrence.
