It is alarming to know that the city of Nawabs is witnessing a rise in the number of cases of chronic liver disease, acute liver disease (Critical cases) and liver cancer with 30-50 new cases reported daily. Dr. Anil Krishna stated that there is no doubt that Corona has completely changed the way of our life. Many people who suffered from corona are ending up with fatty liver problems due to the persistent sedentary lifestyle during the last two years. It needs an immediate awareness and prevention to deal with such cases in the primary stages.
According to Dr. Sachin, HOD, HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon, “Liver is one of the most important organs in the body. The number of liver patients has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Most of the time, we ourselves are responsible for liver diseases with unhealthy habits. Prevention is better than cure. Lifestyle modifications like regular exercise, avoiding unhygienic food and alcohol is the key to a healthy liver. Continuing with these habits leads to worsening of the situation and patients land in life-threatening emergencies. One of the most common reasons that necessitates emergency liver transplant is acute liver deterioration due to treatment by a quack.”
Fatty liver is a silent epidemic!
This disease can act as a silent killer for decades. Early detection of liver diseases can help to reduce the chances of liver failure. Lifestyle changes such as quitting alcohol, maintaining a healthy weight, along with annual screening can help manage the condition. If the disease is not treated on time, it can lead to chronic liver failure, which may need a liver transplant.
When diagnosed with fatty liver problems, locate expert hepatologists to seek care. Do not self-diagnose, worry, or get fearful regarding your condition. Must take second opinion if there is no hope with ongoing treatment.
