Unsafe medication practices and medication errors are the major causes of preventable harm in healthcare worldwide. Medication errors occur with improper training, and human factors such as fatigue, poor environmental conditions, or staff shortages affect the safety of the medication use process.
It can lead to serious harm, disability, and even death to the patient. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the risk of medication errors and related drug-related harm. This year, WHO has chosen "Medication Safety" as the theme of World Patient Safety Day 2022, with the slogan "Medication Without Harm".
Dr. Rakesh Chief Medical Services, Center Head Mata Prasad, and Dr. Anusha-DMS participated in this program.
On this occasion, Dr. Sharath Reddy, Director, Clinical Services, Medicover Hospitals, said that every person around the world, at some point in their life, will get sick. Medicines are taken to prevent or treat that illness. Such then-used drugs can sometimes cause serious harm if improperly stored, prescribed, dispensed, or inadequately monitored.
